The Chi Roll is at the core of the dragon staff movement vocabulary. It consists of a split-time motion of the arms which allows the dragon staff to continuously roll in either a forward or reverse direction, as while one arm is resetting the position of the dragon staff, the other provides a downhill slope to keep the rotational momentum going.

Chi Roll Variations Compilation

There is a huge variety of chi roll variations, including isolations, spin/anti-spin manipulations, or using different parts of the body  (more or less of the arm, hands through wrist only, substituting thigh for arm, some people can chi roll with their feet while lying on the ground, etc). The linked video covers a great number of possible variations, but there are certainly more possibilities as well.
